  Analizando los orígenes e implementación de la normativa chilena de rasantes, este texto explora las ideas de ciudad y sociedad que la subyacen bajo el supuesto de que, durante la dictadura, dicha normativa se convirtió en un estilo propio de la implementación local de la economía neoliberal. Porque, si bien la forma de los ediﬁcios puede estar determinada por una normativa, también puede estar dictada por ideologías o modelos teóricos: en este caso, la búsqueda de la máxima rentabilidad posible.

  Analyzing the origins and implementation of the Chilean set-back regulation, this text explores its underlying ideas of city and society - under the assumption that, during the dictatorship, this regulation became a style typical of the local implementation of the neoliberal economy. For while the shape of buildings can be determined by regulations, they can also be dictated by ideologies or theoretical models: in this case, the search for the maximum possible proﬁtability.
