Resumen de A identidade como factor motivador da práctica deportiva: O fútbol gaélico na Galiza

    No momento actual o peso das identidades colectivas tanto relixiosas, nacionais ou de xénero presenta unha preponderancia absoluta nos acontecementos mais destacados que están a condicionar o funcionamento do sistema mundial. Ante este feito, faise moi necesario que dende a xeografía sociocultural se incrementen os esforzos por afondar na investigación neste campo de máxima actualidade. Neste senso, o presente artigo pretende estudar a influenza da identidade no incremento nunha determinada práctica colectiva no contexto galego. Estámonos a referir o sorprendente éxito do fútbol gaélico na Galiza que se nos presenta como un claro factor diferencial con respecto a outros territorios do Estado español. Así, buscaranse vinculacións entre a práctica deportiva do fútbol gaélico e a presenza dunha forte identidade colectiva na Galiza, moi marcada por un sentimento de pertenza a un marco cultural de orixe celta. Sexa como for, o presente estudo deixa patente a presenza dun factor diferencial na sociedade galega que incrementa a motivación por parte desta sociedade cara a práctica dun deporte de escaso arraigo social no pasado recente do país.

    n the present moment, the importance of collective identities regarding nationality, religious practices or gender play a central role the majority of events that are conditioning the world's system. Because of this, it is vital that socio cultural geography improves its efforts to carry out further research events in this field. Developing this line of argument, in this article we will attempt to study the influence of identity in a specific collective practice within the the Galician context. Specifically we wil explore the surprising success of Gaelic football in Galicia, that appears as a diferential factor compared to the rest of Spain. based on the rapidly increasing interest of Gaelic football in the Galician country, comparing it to its popularity in other regions of Spain. In this article we will attempt to explore the links between the practice of gaelic football and the reqlity of a strong cultural identity of Galiza, well defined by its sense of connections with the Celtic world. This paper proves the existence of this diferential factor within Galician society that increases the motivation of the people of Galicia to continue increasing the practice of this activity, with almost no relevance in the country's recent history.
