Resumen de Rehabilitación en Cuidados Paliativos: ¿un objetivo más? A propósito de dos casos

  Los avances en Oncología en el diagnóstico y terapias más tempranas y eficaces contra el cáncer están prolongando la supervivencia, y como consecuencia los pacientes oncológicos alcanzan más tarde la fase terminal.

  Encontramos que un número importante de pacientes que ingresan en las unidades de cuidados paliativos (UCP) son mayores, con deterioro funcional y/o cognitivo dependiente del propio cáncer, terapia realizada o independientes del mismo.

  Creemos importante el objetivo rehabilitador en dichos pacientes, buscando la mayor independencia funcional posible.

  Presentamos dos casos clínicos con los problemas que surgieron al realizar dicha rehabilitación, tras una valoración integral, y los resultados obtenidos.

  The recent advances in diagnosis and therapy in cancer patients are prolonging their survival, and therefore controuting to a late entry in the terminal stage. A significant number of patients admitted to Palliative Care Units (PCU) are elderly, cognitively and / or functionally impaired due to the cancer itself, the therapy or to independent causes.

  We believe the rehabilitation goal to be an important one in there patients, striving to achieve the maximum of functional independence.

  We present two clinical cases with the problems found during rehabilitation, ear a comprehensive evaluation, and the results achieved.
