Resumen de Primeros resultados del estudio bioarqueológico de restos óseos humanos de la Rioja (Argentina)

Se presentan los resultados obtenidos a partir del estudio de un conjunto de restos óseos humanos procedentes de rescates arqueológicos realizados en diversas localidades de la provincia de La Rioja. El objetivo general es aportar, desde la bioarqueología, al conocimiento de la trayectoria histórica de las poblaciones que habitaron este sector del Noroeste de Argentina. Con este fin, se estableció el perfil biológico de los individuos, se registraron indicadores de estrés nutricional-metabólico, patrones de trauma óseo y se realizaron fechados radiocarbónicos. Se hallaron lesiones poróticas en el cráneo, reacciones periósticas y enfermedad dental que se distribuyen homogéneamente en los dos bloques temporales en los que se ubican los fechados de los entierros (400-650 y 1200-1600 A.D.). Las lesiones traumáticas vinculadas con violencia se hallaron solo en el bloque tardío. Se destaca la necesidad de ampliar la muestra y llevar a cabo análisis químicos y moleculares.

The aim of this work is to present the results of the study of archeological human bone remains from La Rioja province. We seek to contribute from a bioarchaeological approach to the understanding of the historical trajectory of the populations that inhabited this sector of Northwest Argentina. To this end, the biological profile of the individuals was established, and indicators of metabolic and nutritional stress and bone trauma patterns were recorded. Also, radiocarbon datings were performed for each burial. Porotic lesions in the skull, periosteal reactions and dental disease were found to be homogeneously distributed in the two chronological groups present (ca. 400-650 and 1200-1600 A.D.). Traumatic injuries were found only in the late chronological group. Finally, it is highlighted the need to expand the sample and to perform chemical and molecular analysis.
