Neurosciences ask a big question: How does matter (neurons, through neurotransmitters) produce subjective phenomena? We are sure that our contributions will be more modest, so we don’t expect to answer such question. The present work, based on semiotics and neurophysiological foundations, suggests a conceptual tool that could bridge between brain and mental processes, namely the “iconic germinal sign”. This concept comes from the perception of the shape of a referring, in our case, material.
