    La guerra entre Portugal y Castilla en los años setenta del siglo XV provocó que los castellanos enfocaran su interés por la costa atlántica, hasta ese momento coto privado de los lusos. La guerra se extendió al Atlántico y tanto las Islas Canarias que estaban por conquistar como la costa de Guinea cobraron una importancia estratégica nueva en el conflicto. Los castellanos se aventuraron más allá del cabo Bojador y llegaron a lugares desconocidos hasta ese momento. Nosotros analizaremos esos viajes y el momento en que se franqueó el paso para llegar a la mítica Guinea.
