Resumen de Italy and France and the reception of foreign students: A comparison

  Este trabajo se centra en la acogida de estudiantes extranjeros en escuelas de educación infantil en una comparativa entre Italia y Francia. A partir del análisis de documentos relativos a los dos países, he observado que hay una diferencia sustancial con respecto a las estrategias fundamentales de la integración. Como subraya la Comisión Europea con el Estudio sobre el apoyo educativo para niños emigrantes recién llegados «[...] la educación intercultural y el apoyo están ausentes en Francia, debido al fuerte énfasis en centrarse en los valores republicanos franceses.» En lo que se refiere a Italia, se afirma que «[...] La educación intercultural se considera la cruz y un enfoque multidisciplinario en el sistema educativo italiano. [...]» Lejos de querer elevar un modelo o perfil político respecto a otro, las conclusiones apuntan a la necesidad de todas las instituciones de evaluar la dimensión intercultural como el objetivo de los proyectos específicos, y, al mismo tiempo, la educación intercultural como la vía a desarrollar e implementar. La tesis apoyada en este trabajo es que el punto de partida debe ser un sistema coherente de relaciones y contenido, en consonancia con la perspectiva intercultural en la educación de la primera infancia.

  This work focuses on the reception of foreign students on the pre-primary schools in a comparison between Italy and France. From the analysis of the documents relating to the two countries, I have observed that there is a substantial difference regarding the fundamental strategies of integration. As underlined by the European Commission with the Study on Educational Support for Newly Arrived Migrant Children «[…] Intercultural education and support is lacking in France, as there is a strong emphasis on focusing on French republican values.» As far as Italy is concerned, it is stated that «[…] Intercultural education is considered as a cross and multidisciplinary approach in Italian education system.[…]» Far from wanting to elevate a model or a political profile rather than another, the conclusions point to the need that all institutions assess the intercultural dimension as the objective of specific projects, and, simultaneously, the intercultural education as the way in which they should be developed and implemented. The thesis supported in this paper is that the starting point should be a coherent system of relationships and content, in line with the intercultural perspective on the early childhood education.
