    Los dos representantes contemporáneos más conocidos de la Escuela de Frankfurt, Jürgen Habermas y Axel Honneth, han realizado importantes aportes para esclarecer dos temáticas que son indispensables para comprender los desafíos de nuestro tiempo: la fundamentación de la democracia deliberativa pluralista y la esfera de la comunicación social. Este breve texto reconstruye los puntos centrales de los dos temas y señala también algunas incongruencias y limitaciones de estas concepciones que no están pensadas evidentemente para el Tercer Mundo, pero que son útiles para comprender la configuración actual de este último a causa de su carácter general y abstracto, y de su elevada calidad teórica.

    The two best-known contemporary representatives of the Frankfurt School, Jürgen Habermas and Axel Honneth, have made major contributions in clearing up two topics which are essential for understanding the challenges of our times: the theoretical underpinnings of pluralistic, deliberative democracy, and the sphere of social communication. This brief text reconstructs the central points of these two topics and likewise highlights out some incongruences and limitations in these concepts which were evidently not conceived for the Third World. However, they are useful for understanding the current make-up of Third World societies because of their general and abstract character, as well as their high theoretical quality.
