Resumen de El hogar imposible: la experiencia del desarraigo en Tiempo muerto de Margarita García Robayo

En este artículo analizamos la forma como es abordada la crisis identitaria asociada al desarraigo en la novela Tiempo muerto (2017) de Margarita García Robayo. Examinamos las implicaciones que ha tenido en la pareja protagonista (Lucía y Pablo) su condición de inmigrantes latinoamericanos en Estados Unidos, a partir de las reflexiones teóricas sobre la identidad de Hall, Trigo y Ben-Rafael, entre otros. Igualmente, resaltamos la importancia que tienen, para los protagonistas, las categorías raciales y étnicas en la construcción de su identidad y en la forma como jerarquizan y se relacionan con otros latinos residentes en Estados Unidos.

In this article, we analyze the way in which the identity crisis associated with uprooting is addressed in the novel Tiempo muerto (2017) by Margarita García Robayo. We examine the implications that the status of Latino immigrants in the United States has had on the protagonists (Lucia and Pablo), based on the theoretical reflections on identity by Hall, Trigo and Ben-Rafael, among others. Likewise, we deepen on the importance, for the protagonists, of racial and ethnic categories in the construction of their identity and in the way they classify and relate to other Latinos residing in the United States.
