¿Sexualidad al alcance de un clic? Sobre sexualidad y tecnología en la juventud

    INTRODUCCIÓN. Las Tecnologías de la Información y de la Comunicación (TIC) se han desarrollado vertiginosamente, alcanzando diversas esferas del ser humano. Una de ellas es la sexualidad, en la que su impacto es tanto positivo como negativo. OBJETIVO. En el presente estudio se exploró el tema de la sexualidad y su relación con las TIC en jóvenes de 18 a 25 años. METODOLOGÍA. Se empleó metodología mixta cuali-cuantitativa. Se realizaron primeramente 82 grupos focales (122 mujeres y 120 hombres); se analizan aquí las respuestas a la pregunta ¿Cómo ha influenciado la tecnología en la sexualidad?. En segundo lugar se recabaron datos sobre el uso de internet y redes sociales con una encuesta en línea a 590 jóvenes. RESULTADOS: Los jóvenes reportan más consecuencias negativas (51.78%) que positivas (21.87%) o neutras (3.7%). Sin embargo, pasan un promedio de 3 horas semanales en la web buscando contenidos sobre sexualidad, e interactuando a través de redes para fines relacionales y sexuales. DISCUSIÓN Y CONCLUSIONES. Los jóvenes han incorporado a las TIC como un medio para acceder a mayor información y para relacionarse, estando conscientes del impacto negativo que pueden tener en algunos aspectos de su sexualidad.

    INTRODUCTION. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have developed dramatically, reaching various spheres of the human being. One is sexuality, where its impact is both positive and negative. OBJECTIVE. In this study, the topic of sexuality and its relationship with ICT in young people aged 18 to 25 years was explored. METHODOLOGY. A qualitative-quantitative methodology was used. In the first phase, 82 focus groups were conducted (122 women and 120 men); we analyze here the answers to the question: how has technology influenced sexuality? Secondly, data on the use of the Internet and social networks was collected through an online survey of 590 young people. RESULTS. Young people report more negative (51.78%) than positive (21.87%) or neutral (3.7%) consequences. However, they spend an average of 3 hours per week on the web looking for content related to sexuality and interacting through networks for relational and sexual purposes. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. Young people have incorporated ICT as a mean to access to more information and interact with each other and are aware of the negative impact it may have on some aspects of their sexuality.
