Intervenciones de enfermería humanizadoras en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos

    La unidad de cuidados intensivos (UCI) es un lugar donde se encuentran los pacientes en estado crítico y por tanto, los profesionales sanitarios que trabajan en este servicio, tienen como desafío humanizar los cuidados, para ayudar en el afrontamiento y dar soporte a la familia de los pacientes ingresados. La presente revisión de la literatura trata de conocer las intervenciones humanizadoras que realizan los profesionales de enfermería en esta unidad, así como las estrategias que se pueden usar para humanizar la relación enfermero – paciente, brindando así una atención integral desde la perspectiva humana. Para ello, se ha realizado una búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datos Cuiden, PubMed y Cochrane, buscando palabras clave como humanización, enfermería, comunicación enfermera-paciente, relación terapéutica, etc. Como resul-tados principales, encontramos que las acciones humanizadoras son necesarias en servicios como la UCI y se relacionan con una adecuada competencia tanto práctica como teórica por parte de los profesionales sanitarios. Por una parte, se recogen las necesidades de humanización de los pacientes ingresados en la UCI, entre ellas: el cuidado humano, la importancia del apoyo familiar, la comunicación tanto con el paciente como con la familia, las infraestructuras humanizadas, el conocimiento de gustos y preferencias de los pacientes, preservar la intimidad, confi-dencialidad y dignidad de los mismos, así como tener en cuenta las secuelas tras el ingreso en esta unidad. Al comparar la relación existente entre las intervenciones de enfermería humanizadoras y las necesidades de humanización de los pacientes, la mayoría de necesidades se han visto satisfechas por las intervenciones realizadas por los profesionales. Esto implica que la humanización de los cuidados está presente en la praxis diaria de enfermería.

    The intensive care unit (ICU) is a place where critically ill patients are. The health professionals who work in this service have as objective hu-manizes the care provided to patients, to help in the confrontation and to give support to the family of the same. The present review of the litera-ture, tries to know the humanizing interventions performed by the nursing professionals in this service, as well as the strategies that can be used to humanize the nurse – patient relationship, thus providing comprehensive care from a human perspective. For this, a bibliographic search has been realized in the databases Cuiden, PubMed and Cochrane, looking for key words as humanization, nursing, communication, therapeutic relationship, patient, etc. Humanizing actions are necessary in services like this and are related to a suitable practical and theoretical compe-tence on the part of health professionals. As main results, which would be the needs of humanization of patients admitted to the intensive care unit, we can find: human care, the importance of family visit, communication with both the patient and the family, the architecture and human-ized infrastructures, the knowledge of tastes and preferences of the patients, preserving the intimacy, confidentiality and dignity of the same, as well as taking into account the sequels after entering this unit. We could conclude that by comparing the relationship between humanizing nurs-ing interventions and the humanization needs of patients, the majority of needs have been met by the interventions made by the professionals. This implies that the humanization of care is present in the daily practice of nursing.
