En este trabajo se reflexiona sobre la relación entre el objeto conocido por la contabilidad y el que debiera ser objeto de su conocimiento. El propósito es explicitar cuál corresponde a su identidad y lograrlo significaría ampliar los caminos de la investigación contable y fortalecer nuevas áreas de aplicación. El análisis de la información recolectada no requirió cuantificaciones, sí el apoyo en la lógica. Mediante investigación documental de tipo exploratoria se recopilaron muestras conceptuales de trabajos de tratadistas que de alguna manera se han referido a esta temática enfocando el marco histórico de la contabilidad.
This paper reflects on the relationship between the object known by accounting and the one that should be the subject of its knowledge. The purpose is to explain what corresponds to your identity and to achieve this would mean expanding the paths of accounting research and strengthening new areas of application. The analysis of the information collected did not require quantifications, but the support in logic. Through documentary research of an exploratory type, conceptual samples of the work of writers who in some way have referred to this theme were collected, focusing on the historical framework of accounting.
