Los estudiosos han considerado habitualmente el habla toledana como modelo lingüístico contrapuesto al de Castilla la Vieja, sobre todo al de Burgos. Esta variedad toledana se caracterizaría, supuestamente, por su conservadurismo, debido, a su vez, a la influencia mozárabe. La lengua de Toledo se ha identificado también con el castellano alfonsí. Nuestro objetivo es examinar la documentación de los archivos toledanos para comprobar la veracidad de estas ideas e intentar recoger la variación sociolingüística que reflejan los documentos a lo largo del tiempo.

Scholars have usually considered Toledan language as a linguistic model opposed to that of Castilla la Vieja, especially that of Burgos. This Toledan variety would be characterized, supposedly, by its conservatism, due, in turn, to the Mozarabic influence. The Toledan language has also been identified with the “castellano alfonsí”. Our objective is to examine the documentation of the Toledo’ s archives to verify the veracity of these ideas and to try to collect the sociolinguistic variation that the documents reflect over time.
