Dentro del círculo de pintores italianos que trabajaron en la Corte madrileña nos encontramos al pintor florentino Angelo Nardi, quien instalado en España siendo aún muy joven, pasaría el resto de su vida en Madrid. El contacto con el círculo del cardenal Sandoval y Rojas le deparó algunas de sus mayores obras, así como encargos fuera del ámbito cortesano. A la par, su fama en la Corte se acrecentaba, llegando a ostentar el título de pintor del Rey. Algunas de las principales colecciones madrileñas contaron con sus obras, hoy dispersas. Aportamos nuevos datos acerca de su vida y de su labor en la Corte, que permiten completar vacíos existentes en su biografía.

Within the circle of Italian painters who worked in the Royal Court we find Florentine painter Angelo Nardi, who settled in Spain at a very young age and spend the rest of his life in Madrid. The contact with the circle of Cardinal Sandoval y Rojas provided him some of his greatest commissions, as well as assignments out of the Court. At the same time, his renown in the Court increased, achieving the former title of “painter of the King” or court painter. Some of the main collections in Madrid included his paintings. We provide new information about his life and his work in the Court, which allow the completion of existing gaps in his biography.
