Resumen de Intercambio de bienes suntuarios entre España y Nueva España (1640-1649)

El texto analiza los Libros de Registros de las flotas de venida de Nueva España entre 1640-1649 para calcular la plata labrada, alhajas de oro y demás productos suntuarios que llegaron a la Península procedentes del Virreinato. La comparación de estas mercancías con las que se enviaban desde Sevilla por las mismas fechas pondrá de manifiesto el volumen de este tráfico artístico en la Carrera de Indias y las distintas necesidades de la sociedad contemporánea en una y otra orilla del Atlántico. Noticias inéditas sobre virreyes, plateros e indianos aportan variadas perspectivas para reconstruir el panorama del tráfico suntuario entre México y la Península Ibérica durante estos años.

This article analyzes the Register Books of coming of the New Spain between 1640-1649 years to calculate the silverware, gold jewels and other sumptuary products that arrived at the Peninsula coming from the Viceroyalty. The comparison of these merchandises with that were sent from Seville by the same dates will show the volume of this artistic traffic in the Route to the Indies and the different necessities from the contemporary society in one and another border of the Atlantic. Unpublished news about viceroys, silversmiths and Indians contribute different perspectives to reconstruct the panorama of the sumptuary traffic between Mexico and the Iberian Peninsula during these years.
