    Durante veinticinco siglos de historia del teatro en occidente, la tragedia ha sido sin duda el género dramático que ha gozado de mayor prestigio y al que se ha considerado como más noble y elevado. La tragedia ha mantenido ciertos rasgos que podrían considerarse estables. Entre ellos destaca la presencia del personaje que realiza acciones esforzadas y grandiosas; héroes que se distinguen del hombre común y corriente por lo extraordinario de sus hazañas. Y, si bien no es esta la única característica importante del género, en esta ocasión me interesa considerar su presencia en tanto elemento central del acontecimiento trágico. Para tratar este asunto dentro del contexto dramatúrgico mexicano, me interesa centrarme en la estrategia dramática utilizada por Usigli y Garro sobre el héroe trágico.

    For twenty-five centuries of western theater history, the tragedy has certainly been the dramatic genre which has enjoyed greater prestige and which has been evaluated as more noble and elevated. The tragedy has kept some features that could be considered stable. These include the presence of the character that makes hard-working and great deeds; distinguished heroes of the common man for their extraordinary feats. And while it is not the only important feature of the genre, I'm interested in to consider its presence as a central element of the tragic event. To treat this subject within the Mexican dramaturgical context, I'm interested in the dramatic focus strategy used by Usigli and Garro about the tragic hero.
