The intercommunication between Rome and the Hispanic March during the tenth century was very important, not only for the number of preserved documents -which are regested in this article- but also for their relation to a particular theme. In them one can measure a gradual development towards Roman centralism. The monasteries obtain exemption from the local ecclesiastical organizations. The Pope will be the direct owner of them, and the monks, especially in the later ages -as in the Gregoriam Reform- converted into champions of the Roman cause. One observes a similar development in the intents to restore the Tarraconensis province. The local churches free themselves from the metropolitan see of Narbonne, but lose, little by little, their old autochtonic rule.
