Sobre arte y trascendencia: educar desde la cultura más allá de ella

    Si los estudios más recientes sobre la creatividad humana se han centrado mayoritariamente en su dimensión utilitaria, en este caso vamos a entenderla como fin en sí misma, esto es, como acción asociada a la capacidad artística en sentido etimológico, relacionada con cualquier producir, ya sea de lo bello o de lo útil, y que, aunque procesual en su consecución, parte de una captación o comprensión inmediata o ajena al tiempo, de modo que puede concebirse también, en consecuencia, en cierta medida al margen de los resultados, más o menos logrados, a los que conduzca. Desde esta perspectiva se pone la acción creadora en relación directa con el desarrollo pleno de la personalidad del individuo y se entiende como acción abierta al perfeccionamiento de su potencialidad natural y necesitado de ella a través de una labor educadora que sea apropiada para que el sujeto creador, a través de su arte, no sólo se quede en él, sino que pueda ir más allá de sí mismo. En estos términos adquiere sentido plantear la relación entre arte, o cultura en general —y la creatividad que lleva consigo—, y trascendencia, para analizar el alcance —¿inmanente?, ¿trascendente?— de la acción creadora y de sus productos y, por tanto, sus límites expresivos. Se plantea que, para llevar a cabo una educación para la presencia en todos sus sentidos, hacen falta dos cosas: en primer lugar, un peculiar saber mirar las obras del hombre para no quedarse sólo en ellas, lo cual no significa en absoluto renunciar o prescindir de ellas, sino tomarlas en la medida en que me permiten ver más allá de sí. Y, en segundo lugar, aprender a querer bien lo que merece la pena ser elegido, para lo cual hay que explorar la dimensión volitiva humana.

    Most recent studies on creativity have addressed this human feature under a strictly utilitarian approach. In this article, we are going to focus on it as an aim in itself, understanding it as an action related to the human artistic ability in its etymological sense, related to any kind of production, either of the beautiful or the useful, but which, although involving a process of actualization, is based on some direct insight or understanding which is aside from time. This means that this kind of activity can also be understood in a certain sense aside from the more or less successful results which it brings. From this broader perspective, creativity has something to do with the full developement of the individual’s personality, and it is conceived as an activity which is open to the further developement of the natural potential of the individual through an educational action that is intended to do so, so that the creative individual reaches through their artwork beyond themselves and comes out of themselves towards something greater. On this note it makes sense to frame the question of the relationship between art or, in a broader sense, culture —and the creativity it involves— and the divine, in order to examine the immanent or transcendent significance of creative activities and the bounds of artistic expression. We note that, in order to educate for the presence in this sense, two things are needed: on one hand, to learn to see human creations in a certain way that involves not staying just on them, what does not mean doing without them, but taking them just inasmuch as they enable to see beyond them. And, on the other hand, to learn to love what is worth loving, what requires to look into the volitional dimension of human beings.
