Resumen
The article has as its object the presentation of the relationship between the authority of hierarchical teaching and the life of faith of the ecclesial community. The theme has been chosen because of the uneasiness of many Christians who consider the authority of the Church in the matter of faith as something exterior and apart from their personal life. The first part analyses the theme from a social-historic standpoint. The second part is devoted to the teaching which, as a service to the faith of the community, has as its mission the realization of the meaning of revelation. The third part explains two difficulties existing in the magisterial service: firstly, one that lies between the objectivity of the Scriptures, as a text from the past, and the actual present-day meaning; and secondly, the strain between the subjective demands and the communal demands of the Christian faith. In its conclusions, regarding the teme of the experience of faith, the teaching appears to be directed to and for the community, and its language as an element of communication between those who cal1 themselves believers.
