  • Resumen
    • Many established companies, to keep up with the changes caused by the external environment, are continuously seeking new ways to encourage change and innovation. Nowadays, the problem is to understand how healthcare organizations (HCO) may be able to learn, which means changing themselves. Reflexivity and the reflective thinking of Dewey’s matrix become very useful because from a practical point of view, the effects and commitments of reflexivity are redesigned at both individual and systemic level, meaning organizations, since these favor learning, change, innovation and creativity. The Fifth Discipline helps the human being better understand what hinders him to learn something new and act effectively in an environment that changes at the same time as himself. In economic and management sciences, the Fifth Discipline is one of the most advanced studies of the Sloan School ofManagement of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This article analyzes the seven learning constraints typical of every business organization. The knowledge of these subjects is important for health professionals responsible for other people or services, since leaders are increasingly assuming full awareness of the importance of supporting and promoting favorable and encouraging contexts in the organization and work, as a comprising and necessary part of the company’s mission and a fundamental objective to achieve concrete actions for improvement.
