    En este artículo se analizan inicialmente los cambios ocurridos en el trabajo femenino y sus condicionantes durante los años de recesión económica de la década de los ochenta. La información proviene de algunas de las principales encuestas de fecundidad llevadas a cabo durante ese periodo. Se hace hincapié en el aumento observado en la participación económica de mujeres de mayor edad, unidas y con hijos, y en las modificaciones que esto trae para las relaciones conocidas entre fecundidad y trabajo. En una segunda parte se exploran las diversas formas en que las mujeres posiblemente viven los cambios observados y el impacto esperado sobre la condición de subordinación que las caracteriza. No se trata en este caso de resultados de investigación, sino de una revisión bibliográfica, acompañada de planteamientos teórico-metodológicos sobre la mejor manera de acercarse a este importante objeto de estudio.

    In this article, the first analysis is concerned with the changes that have occurred in work in the case of women and the determining factors of such changes during the years of economic recession in the 1980s. The information comes from some of the major fertility surveys carried out during that period. Emphasis is placed on the increase observed in the economic participation of older married women with children, and in the modifications that this entails for the known relations between fertility and work. In a second part of the paper, the authors explore the different ways in which women possibly experience these changes and the expected impact on their status of subordination. In this case, we are not concerned with research findings, but rather with a bibliographical review and theoretical-methodological proposals about the best way of approaching this important object of study.
