Resumen de High performance concrete reinforced with carbon fibers for multifunctional applications

  • To the author’s knowledge, this study represents the first research whose aim is to obtain a multifunctional carbon fibre high-performance concrete (MCFHPC). It will be attained through use of self-compacting concrete (SCC) and/or high-strength concrete (HSC). Multifunctionality will be achieved if low resistivity is obtained. In this study, several percentages of different types of carbon fibres (CF) were used to produce MCFHPC. Self-compacting concrete (SCC) was obtained, but conductivity was similar to control. Nevertheless, ultra-high compressive strength was obtained (higher than 100 MPa). To reduce cost, lower quantities with same dosages were fabricated as mortars with a different CF dispersion method and very low resistivity was obtained, with only 1% vol. CF. Self-sensing and heating properties were corroborated by preliminary results. Now, the efforts of this study are devoted to obtain the same MCFHPC in a standard concrete mixer with standard concrete quantities.
