Resumen de Early magmatism of the Upper Rhine Graben area: age constraints from two independent chronometers

• Since the first K/Ar age dating o f the Upper Rhine Graben (URG) volcanics, the open question upon the existence of an Upper Cretaceous volcanic activity phase has not been solved. We present results of two independent dating methods (FT and Ar/Ar) on selected samples from the southern as well as the northern part. This study represents a contribution to clarify the causes of the primitive mantle derived melt generation of the URG area.
