  • Resumen
    • UNESCO has established World Bioethics Day with the aim of promoting and spreading the Bioethics way of thinking, thus contributing to the improvement of quality of life for all. On this occasion, UNESCO has focused on human dignity and human rights. Although this event did not have a great promotion internationally, some countries did carry out many commemorative and awareness-raising events, involving several Institutes and Universities. The UNESCO Chair in Bioethics has resulted in the ethical modernization of the curriculum for medicine students learning ethics. This year is the ten-year commemoration of the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights, which is full of advice and support for decision makers. The Declaration has also played a role in the promotion and acknowledgment of people’s freedoms and rights, to encourage an including and inspiring dialogue. Human dignity and human rights are very relevant and current topics given the walls being raised in Europe and the political movements in North America, where bioethical subjects may remain relegated.
