    Pharmacists play an important role in supporting patients suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD), as well as in the prevention of the disease. They explain the importance of self-monitoring, the benefit of a diet rich in vitamins and unsaturated fats, and provide advice when dispensing the food supplements prescribed by the ophthalmologist. They also have a role in passing on information concerning screening and patient associations.

    Le pharmacien joue un rôle important dans l’accompagnement des patients atteints de dégénérescence maculaire liée à l’âge (DMLA), ainsi que dans la prévention de la maladie. Il explique l’importance de l’auto-surveillance, l’intérêt d’une alimentation riche en vitamines et acides gras insaturés, et formule des conseils lors de la délivrance des compléments alimentaires prescrits par l’ophtalmologue. Il a aussi pour rôle de relayer les informations concernant le dépistage et les associations de patients.
