Resumen de O Salão Central Eborense: de covas de pão a sala de cinema

  No âmbito da obra de Requalificação do Salão Central Eborense, realizou-se uma intervenção arqueológica programada, de forma a redefinir uma nova funcionalidade ao espaço, tendo como objetivos identificar eventuais constrangimentos à execução da obra, bem como estruturas ou níveis arqueológicos significativos, a sua caracterização, em termos de valor patrimonial e as respetivas medidas de minimização e salvaguarda a implementar. A primeira fase da presente campanha desenvolveu-se entre 7 de agosto de 2017 e 23 de julho de 2018 e contou com a colaboração de equipa de voluntários da área da arqueologia, da Universidade de Évora. A segunda fase realizar-se-á em acompanhamento de obra, por implicar áreas a demolir, cuja data se estima para o próximo ano

  Within the context of the Rehabilitation Project of the Salão Central Eborense — former movie theater of the city — a preventive archaeological intervention, promoted by Évora’s Municipality, was conducted in order to redefine a new functionality for the space.

  The works had, as their main objective to identify any constraints towards the final structural intervention, as well as meaningful archaeological levels and/or remains, its characterization in terms of heritage value and the appropriate minimization and safeguard measures to be implemented. The full intervention developed in its first stage, between August 7, 2017 and July 23, 2018. The second stage is scheduled to be conducted in terms of monitoring the follow-up architectural intervention, given the existence of areas to be demolished, whose date is estimated for next year
