    The profusion of elements of Roman culture in the site of Carvalhal and the interest aroused in the local community (and beyond) were instrumental in the municipality of Ansião to promote a first archaeological approach of a systematic nature to the site, taking into account the implementation of a study of design, conservation, presentation and promotion of the local heritage.

    Data obtained during the two campaigns held in 2013 and 2014 allowed the identification of structures and assets that bear witness to local history from the 4th/5th century onwards.

    A profusão de elementos da cultura romana no lugar do Carvalhal e o interesse que despertaram na comunidade local (e não só), foram determinantes para que o Município de Ansião promovesse uma primeira abordagem arqueológica de carácter sistemático ao sítio, tendo em conta a implementação de um projeto de estudo, conservação, valorização e divulgação do património local.

    Os dados obtidos durante as duas campanhas que se realizaram em 2013 e 2014, permitiram identificar estruturas e espólio que testemunham a história local entre os séculos IV e V d.C.
