El proyecto tuvo como punto de partida el estudio de dos lienzos que pertenecieron a la iglesia de São João Novo (Porto), a partir de los grabados del artista italiano Oliviero Gatti (b. ca. 1579-d. 1648). Nos propusimos estudiar el impacto y la propagación de L‘Arbor dell’Ordine, creado e interpretado por el grabador y pintor italiano en Europa y en el Nuevo Mundo. Tratamos de entender cómo los grabados del artista han circulado en el tiempo, a través de las dos impresiones grabadas en dos momentos distintos: la primera, creada en 1614, dedicada al Papa Paulo V y al rey Felipe III de España. La otra, realizada entre 1677 a 1679, dedicada a Inocencio XI y a Carlos II de España. Se ha pretendido es-tablecer nuevos datos sobre el artista; evaluar el número de copias de los grabados y de los trabajos pictóricos que pueden ser registrados; establecer análisis comparativos entre los diferentes ejem-plares y comprender su importancia para la Orden de los Agustinos.

The project began with the study of two paintings that belonged to the church of São João Novo (Porto), made from the engravings of the Italian artist Oliviero Gatti (n. ca. 1579 - m. 1648). We intend to study the impact and diffusion of L’Arbor dell‘Ordine printmaking, created and executed by the Italian engraver and painter both in Europe and overseas. We will attempt to understand how the artist’s engravings circulated over time through two impressions created in two distinct moments: the first, created in 1614, dedicated to Pope Paul V and King Philip III of Spain and the other, executed between 1677 to 1679, dedicated to Innocent XI and Charles II of Spain. Here we attempt to establish new data about the artist, assess the number of copies of the engravings and pictorial works that are possible to register, and to establish a comparative analysis between the different copies and understand their impor-tance to the Augustinian Order.
