    Recorrer el territorio de Abya Yala es para mí una de las experiencias de vida y aprendizaje más gratificantes y amorosas. Conjuga todo aquello que nutre, alegra y colma mis sentidos. En febrero de este año tuve la oportunidad de habitar temporariamente los saberes y paisajes de Iximulew, colonialmente conocida como Guatemala. Pude en ese espacio hermanarme con su gente, que es mi gente, y que es parte del nosotrxs que siento y elijo. Me maravillé además, por supuesto, con la magnitud de sus lagos, la imponencia de sus volcanes, la musicalidad de sus islas repletas de pájaros, la mística y el reencuentro con nuestra historia en Tikal, la calma del Peten-Itzá, la selva y la exuberancia de su Río Dulce, la intensidad de Zacapa. El corolario de esta extraordinaria vivencia fue el encuentro con Lorena Cabnal. A partir del contacto realizado por Claudia Korol -otra hermana generosa, feminista y luchadora incansable- Lorena Cabnal nos esperaba en el cobijo y calidez de su casa, donde tuvimos esta hermosa charla que es lo que aquí comparto.

    Travelling across Abya Yala is one of the most gratifying and loving experiences I have ever lived. It comprises everything that nourishes, gives joy and fulfills and satisfies me. Back in February I had the chance to temporarily inhabit the landscapes and knowledges of Iximulew— what has been colonially renamed Guatemala. I could relate there with people, my people; those that I choose. Of course I was also marveled by the size of its lakes, the magnificence of the volcanoes , the musicality of its isles populated by birds, the mystic and the reunion with our history in Tikal, Peten-Itzá’s calmness, the forests and the exuberance of Rio Dulce, the intensity of Zacapa. The best part of it all was the extraordinary encounter with Lorena Cabnal. She received us – myself and Claudia Korol, another generous sister, a feminist and restless warrior—in the comfort and warmth of her own home, where we held this incredible conversation which I hereby retell.
