    RESUMEN El presente artículo describe la dinámica empresarial del sector industrias manufactureras del departamento del Huila (Colombia) durante el periodo 2012 a 2017. Se realizó un estudio con enfoque cuantitativo de tipo descriptivo observacional de corte retrospectivo, la fuente de información la base de datos nacional “Registro Único Empresarial y Social (RUES)”. Se tomaron las empresas registradas bajo industrias manufactureras como sector principal donde se estudiaron las variables: actividad económica, tamaño, localización y renovación del registro mercantil. Se encontró una asociación directa entre la supervivencia empresarial y las empresas de tamaño micro y pequeñas; así mismo, entre el tamaño empresarial y la actividad económica registrada. Estos resultados ofrecen una línea base para diseñar e implementar proyectos futuros que permitan mejorar el desarrollo empresarial y, así mismo, la productividad regional.

    ABSTRACT This article describes the business dynamics of the manufacturing industries sector of the department of Huila (Colombia) during the period 2012 to 2017. A study was carried out with a quantitative approach of retrospective descriptive descriptive type, the source of information in the national database “Single Business and Social Registry (RUES) ”. Companies registered under manufacturing industries were taken as the main sector where the variables were studied: economic activity, size, location and renewal of the commercial register. A direct association was found between business survival and micro and small sized businesses; and between business size and registered economic activity. These results offer a baseline to design and implement future projects that allow improving business development and, likewise, regional productivity.
