    Quiero analizar aquí las construcciones de identidad en ocupantes ilegales del barrio del Abasto de Buenos Aires, actores centrales de la etnografía que estoy realizando desde 1993.

    Me interesa ahondar en dichas identidades teniendo en cuenta un doble movimiento. En primer término, describiré las atribuciones de identidad hacia los ocupantes ilegales por parte de otros (ya sean medios de comunicación, organismos gubernamentales o vecinos de clase media con los que conviven en el espacio barrial), para desde allí acceder a una comprensión de cómo estos ocupantes construyen las imágenes de sí mismos.

    Me interesa analizar el cruce entre las clasificaciones externas y aquellas que parten del interior del grupo para discutir por qué las primeras (aun cuando tengan mayor aceptación o divulgación) no agotan la definición de identidad de este sector.

    I want to analise in this paper the identity constructions of illegal occupants of the “Abasto” area of Buenos Aires, central actors of the ethnography I am doing since 1993.

    I am interested in deeply studying these identities considering a double movement. In the first place, I will describe the identity attributions towards the illegal occupants from means of communication, governmental organisms or middle class neighbors that live with them in that area. And, from there, to understand how these occupants construct their images of themselves.

    I am interested in analyzing the crossing between the external classifications and those that belong to the group itself to discuss why the first ones (even when they have more acceptance and are more widespread) do not exhaust the identity definition of this sector.
