Resumen de El estigma en las identidades sociales: El caso villa corina

  Este trabajo forma parte de un proyecto más amplio, cuyo objetivo es indagar acerca del proceso de construcción de identidades sociales en el marco del contexto de cambio en el modelo de acumulación capitalista. Abordamos este tema a través de un caso empírico puntual, la población de Villa Corina.

  Buscamos profundizar, a través del análisis de un caso particular, en la comprensión del papel que juega el estigma en la construcción y expresión de las representaciones identitarias. Estas representaciones son la definición social de un grupo a través de la cual se opera la disolución simbólica de las diferencias, desigualdades y contradicciones que conforman su realidad. Dichas representaciones no están aisladas de las realidades sociales sobre las que se conforman y desarrollan. Forman parte, indudablemente, pero no son reductibles a ellas.

  Nuestra hipótesis de trabajo es que la estigmatización juega un papel central en este proceso de constitución de las subjetividades de los villeros. Y que para salir de ese lugar “negado”, los sujetos involucrados apelan a distintas estrategias, en pos de ubicarse en un lugar socialmente más favorable.

  This study is part of a wider project, which main goal is to ask about the social identity construction process in the overall context of capitalist accumulation. The approach includes discussing a real case: the population of Villa Corina.

  We try to understand, analyzing in deep this particular case, the role that stigmas play in the construction and expression of identity representation. These representations are the social definition of a group through which the symbolic dissolution of differences, inequities and contradictions is expressed. Representations are not isolated from the social realities on which they are conformed and developed. They are certainly part of the social realities but they do not reduce to them.

  Our main hypothesis is that stigmatization plays a central role in the process of creation of shanty town’s people subjectivity. We also state that in order to go out of that “denied” place, they use different strategies, trying to install themselves in a more accepted social place.
