  The article proposes a debate about the discussions about the theme of agrarian reform during the period known as “political openness” in Brazil, especially between 1985 and 1988. We will focus, in particular, on the struggles of some employers in the promulgation of the First National Plan for Agrarian Reform (IPNRA) and the debate on agrarian reform in the 1988 Constituent Assembly. The main objective is to present the forms of organization of the rural ruling class, rescuing the correlation of forces designed by the employers’associations in the period to combat agrarian reform both at the time the plan was drawn up and the Constituent.

  O artigo propõe um debate sobre as discussões travadas em torno do tema da reforma agrária durante o período conhecido como “abertura política” no Brasil, principalmente entre os anos de 1985 a 1988. Concentraremos, em especial, nos embates travados por algumas entidades patronais na promulgação do I Plano Nacional de Reforma Agrária (IPNRA) e no debate sobre a reforma agrária na Constituinte de 1988. O objetivo principal consiste em apresentar as formas de organização da classe dominante rural, resgatando a correlação de forças desenhada pelas agremiações patronais no período para combater a reforma agrária tanto no momento de elaboração do plano quanto na Constituinte.
