Este estudio tiene por objetivo meditar sobre los límites y alcances de la democracia. Parte del hecho de que en nuestro tiempo hay una comprensión de término medio que toma como un hecho incuestionable que el mejor régimen de gobierno para un pueblo es la democracia. El recurso a la Política de Aristóteles aporta una serie de valiosos argumentos para mostrar cuáles son los límites y los alcances de un régimen de gobierno, sea la democracia o cualquier otro, y para descubrir el objeto más importante de toda reflexión filosófica sobre la vida política: el logos estético común sobre el que se levanta cualquier régimen de gobierno. La oligarquía, la plutocracia y la representación se ofrecen como tres de los graves problemas que agobian actualmente a la democracia.

The purpose of this study is to meditate on the limits and scope of democracy. Part of the fact that in our time there is an half way understanding which accepts as an unquestionable fact that the best regime of government is democracy. Going back to Aristotle’s Politics provides a series of valuable arguments to show what are the limits and scope of a government regime, whether democracy or any other, and to discover the most important object of any philosophical reflection on political life: the common aesthetic logos on which any regime of government rises. The oligarchy, the plutocracy and the representation are offered as three of the serious problems that currently overwhelm democracy.
