  • The analysis o f the facies in the sediments from Gallocanta Lake allows the identification of three stages of sedimentation. These stages have a relationship with the vegetation, which is deduced from the pollen study. The lowest stage corresponds with distal alluvial areas, the second stage is a shallow carbonated lake and the last one is a saline-carbonated lake. In the alluvial facies there are not any pollen, whereas in the stage of a shallow carbonated lake, we have five pollen zones, from LG4 to LG8 which show that the maximum depth from the Gallocanta Lake was from 4 to 10 m. Finally the stage of saline-carbonated lake coincides with the last pollen zone, where the water depth was from 0 to 2 m.
