    Este trabajo pretende analizar las características especiales que han tenido tanto la colonización como el proceso de descolonización de Guinea Ecuatorial. La colonización se caracterizó por su discontinuidad, intermitencia y debilidad poblacional. La independencia de la nueva república fue un proceso rápido y sin mucha violencia, más producto de la situación internacional del momento que de una presión interna a favor de la emancipación.

    El tema de Guinea ha tenido poca repercusión entre el público y los historiadores españoles, a pesar de su singularidad. El año 2018 marca el 50 aniversario de su independencia. Con este artículo el IHCM se une a tal efeméride

    This work examines the history of the Spanish settling of Equatorial Guinea and the process of decolonization that would culminate in October, 1968. The Spanish settling in the Gulf of Guinea was always intermittent, discontinuous and weak. It was not up to the first third of the 20th century that the settling was more regular and intense. After the World War II Guinea entered a process of decolonization like in other parts of Africa. This process also will have special characteristics: there was no a war of liberation as such process was provoked more by the international situation than by an internal demand. The Spanish governennment tried to decentralize the administration of the territory but finally it agreed to give full independence to Guinee that was implemented on a ceremony on October, 12, 1968. From then on the life of the Guinea people changed for ever.
