The aim of this text is to remember and analysethe biography and diplomaticcareer of Luigi Vittorio Ferraris, one of the most brilliant Italian diplomats in the secondhalf of the Twentieth Century. Ferraris was Italian ambassador in West Germanyfrom 1980 to 1987 and one of the main Italian experts on Central-Eastern Europe.Ferraris was also a prolific and intelligent political analyst and historian, author ofmany interesting books and essays on International affairs and Italian foreign policy.
