Resumen de Traslados de reliquias y espacios fronterizos en la España medieval

  El estudio propone analizar algunos textos hagiográficos hispanos de los siglos VIII a X que refieren el traslado de reliquias en la España medieval, en particular en aquellos casos en los que tales traslados supusieron el contacto entre las comunidades cristianas y musulmanas de la península. En tal sentido, se verificará que, en lo que atañe a los restos de los santos, hubo un tráfico incesante y nunca interrumpido de vestigios sagrados entre ambos grupos humanos, sorteando cualquier tipo de frontera política o cultural. Por lo mismo, se cuestiona la idea de un trasvase generalizado de reliquias del sur al norte peninsular ante la llegada de los sarracenos, idea desarrollada por los obispados septentrionales a partir del siglo XI para justificar su preeminencia en el marco de la geografía eclesiástica ibérica.

  This study aims to analyse several Hispanic hagiographical texts dated from the eight to the tenth century that refer to the translation of relics in medieval Spain. In particular, I focus on instances where the translations required contact between the Christian and Muslim communities. It is argued that there was a constant, uninterrupted transit of sacred remains between both groups, unhindered by any cultural or political frontier. Therefore, I question the idea that relics were frequently moved northwards with the arrival of the Saracens.

  Instead, it is held that such idea was coined in the northern bishopries from the eleventh century onwards in order to justify their pre-eminence within the Iberian ecclesiastical geography.
