  • Tomas Sucona i Valles (Reus, 1842 - Tarragona, 1907), canon of Tarragona Cathedral and professor of Hebrew in the Pontifical Seminary, was the author of a Catalan translation of the Psalms from the Hebrew text made between 1882 and 1898. Later he published a revised version in one volume in 1901. This translation which takes into consideration contemporary philological studies, principally those done by G. Bickell, seeks to be more readable by using a natural and genuine language. Sucona, who also was distinguished in the field of Neo-Thomistic philosophy, translated the Song of Songs (1906) and was the author of a Hebrew Grammar (1891, 1903).
