    • The sediments interbedded and covering the jurassic submarine volcanic rocks in an area of the Median Subbetic are studied. The volcanic rocks are composed by about twenty submarine volcanic flows interbedded in a rhythmic alternance of limestone/marls (Zegrf Tm.). The accumulated thickness of the volcanic rocks can measure 500 m and the related sediments have ammonites of Toarcian and Aalenian age. On the upper flows, shallowing upward sequences, 5-10 m thick, have been recognized, having in the upper part oolitic limestones, in some places, with palaeokarst surfaces. These Bajocian oolitic limestones were deposited in isolated carbonate platforms developed on the volcanic edifices. The maximum depositional depth of the pelagic sediments located between the volcanic rocks would be similar to the volcanic edifices height, or to the accumulated thickness of the volcanic rocks, moreover the interbedded sediments.
