La teórica e historiadora del arte Mieke Bal destaca en sus estudios por encontrarse en un constante viaje, de idas y venidas que aportan frescura y revitalizan el arte contemporáneo. Durante su trayectoria ha conseguido renovar, a través de la reinterpretación, términos como el espacio, la temporalidad o el movimiento, este último entendido como desplazamiento y como tiempo, que se convierten en aspectos claves dentro de sus teorías. Pero si por algo ha destacado es por estar siempre ligada a los estudios visuales. Para ella, las imágenes son algo más que un elemento físico, presentan diferentes formas de mostrarse ante el espectador. Todos estos estudios y todo el trabajo de Mieke Bal se pudo ver reflejado en la exposición Emma & Edvard: Love in the Time of Loneliness que ella misma comisarió en The Munch Museum, del 27 de enero al 17 de abril de 2017. En ella consiguió crear nuevos elementos para el desarrollo de la exposición introduciendo en el mundo del comisariado nuevas formas expositivas

Mieke Bal (theorist and art historian) is known for her studies where she is in a constant trip which freshen the contemporary art. Along her career, she has renewed, through reinterpretation, terms such as space, temporality or movement as displacement and time – key concepts in her theories. But if she has stood out for something, it is always linked to visual studies. She advocates that the images are more than just a physical element; they are different ways of getting in front of the audience. All her studies have been displayed at Emma & Edvard exhibition: Love in the Time of Loneliness; Bal was the exhibition coordinator at The Munch Museum, from January the 27th to April the 17th, 2017. She created new elements for this exhibition through new demonstrative ways.
