    The essay is divided into two parts. In the first one, the Author - by relying on the statistical surveys - highlights, on the one hand, the sharp distinction still existing within the national labour market between the Italian and the migrant workforce and, on the other hand, the mi-grants’ discontent with the Italian trade union confederations, despite both the high and in-creasing number of migrants being in these kind of unions. In the second part of the essay - still by relying on the data - the Author wonders about the reasons behind the said discontent and about the possible future scenarios, pointing out, in particular, what problems the worst future scenario (namely the setting up of ethnic unions) could rise and how this scenario could affect not only the industrial relations but also the society as a whole.

    Il saggio è composto da due parti: nella prima l’Autrice - dando conto di rilevazioni statistiche - evidenzia, da un lato, il netto distinguo ancora esistente all’interno del mercato del lavoro nazionale tra forza-lavoro italiana e straniera e, dall’altro, come, nonostante l’elevato e crescente numero di iscrizioni dei lavoratori immigrati, il sindacato confederale stia mostrando una perdita di appeal verso tale categoria di soggetti. La seconda parte dello studio invece - facendo sempre leva su dati empirici - si interroga su quali possano essere le ragioni alla base di questa emergente insoddisfazione e circa i plausibili scenari futuri, mettendo in luce, in particolare, le criticità che lo scenario più estremo (id est quello della costituzione di sindacati su base etnica) sarebbe in grado di arrecare non solo a livello di relazioni industriali ma, addirittura, di sistema.
