  • Resumen
    • When it went into service a little over a year ago, Boeing's 787 Dreamliner was hailed as a miracle of cutting-edge innovation. The Chicago-based company used lithium-ion batteries and a carbon-fibre fuselage to cut down on fuel consumption, and computer networks that provide passengers with far better in-flight entertainment including Internet access. But a series of mishaps--including a battery fire aboard a 787 at Boston's Logan International Airport on 7 January--has grounded all 50 planes in the global fleet. The US National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the plane's electrical systems.
