This essay explores Liliana Wilson´s art in light of Gloria Anzaldúa´s conocimiento and mestiza consciousness. Looking at Liliana Wilson’s art gives me the same feeling as reading Anzaldúa, for the more I study Wilson’s art, the more I understand that her oeuvre is both a visual representation of the Anzaldúan program and an organic product of it. I see, in other words, the awakening of Liliana Wilson’s mestiza consciousness, and the artist’s process of conocimiento, an epistemology of the self as described by Gloria Anzaldúa in some of her Interviews, and in her essay, “Now let us shift … the path of conocimiento … inner work, public acts” (2002).
