    The present study had as general objective to be reached: “Verify what are the contributions of the use of the concrete material in the construction/understanding of the concept Matemática: Ciência e Aplicações 4 Capítulo 10 85 of fraction in a 4th year of the basic education of the High School Cooperação, localized in the municipality of Cruz Alta, Rio Grande do Sul”. The developed activities by the students, were organized in three meetings, elaborated in the format of workshops, where were performed activities using clipping, folding, aiming the construction/ understanding of the concept of fraction. The choice this theme was due the necessity of stablish a relationship between theory and practice with the purpose of facility the understanding of the fraction teaching. To attend this goal, was performed a field research, which had as instrument of daily data collect of field, analysis of the activities developed to a group of researched in question. Such research is substantiated on the studies of Gean Piaget, Celso Antunes and Mary Rangel. The analysis of the data was performed from the interpretation of graphics, built by the means of the activities performed by the students and elaborated with base on obtained information by the means of the others instruments of data collect. With the realization of the proposal described here, became possible afford for this group of students a more meaningful learning with the concrete material, because after the analysis of data was possible realize how much this material are important for the learning of the student.

    presente estudo teve por objetivo geral a ser atingido: “Verificar quais as contribuições do uso do material concreto na construção/compreensão do conceito de fração em um 4º ano do ensino fundamental da Escola Cooperação, localizada no município de Cruz Alta Rio Grande do Sul”. As atividades desenvolvidas pelos alunos, foram organizadas em três encontros, elaborados no formato de oficinas, onde realizaram atividades utilizando recorte, dobradura, visando a construção/ compreensão do conceito de frações. A escolha desse tema foi devido a necessidade de estabelecer uma relação entre teoria e prática com o intuito de facilitar a compreensão do ensino de fração. Para atender este objetivo, foi realizada uma pesquisa considerando os pressupostos teóricos da pesquisa-ação, que teve como instrumento de coleta de dados diário de campo, análise das atividades desenvolvidas para o grupo de pesquisados em questão. Tal pesquisa está fundamentada nos estudos de Jean Piaget, Celso Antunes e Mary Rangel. A análise dos dados foi realizada a partir da interpretação de gráficos, construídos por meio das atividades realizadas pelos alunos e de elaborada com base nas informações obtidas por meio dos demais instrumentos de coleta de dados. Com a realização da proposta aqui descrita, tornou-se possível proporcionar a este grupo de alunos uma aprendizagem mais significativa com o material concreto, pois após as análises de dados foi possível perceber o quanto esses materiais são importantes para o aprendizado do aluno.
