    En este artículo se presentan resultados de la concordancia de género gramatical en una variedad de español de contacto: el español purépecha. Mostramos que no solo las restricciones estructurales de ambas lenguas ayudan a entender la variación, sino también algunos factores sociales. En este estudio fueron factores estadísticamente significativos para favorecer la no concordancia de género tres factores lingüísticos —la categoría gramatical del controlador, la función de la frase en la que este aparece y el dominio de la concordancia—y tres factores sociales, los usos y actitudes de los hablantes hacia ambas lenguas, su nivel de escolarización y el género.

    This article presents results of grammatical gender agreement in a variety of contact Spanish: Purépecha Spanish. We show that not only the structural restrictions of both languages help to understand the variation, but also some social factors. In this study, three linguistic factors favored gender non-concordance: the controller’s grammatical category, the function of the phrase in which it appears and the domain of concordance. Speakers’ usage and attitudes to both languages, their level of educational attainment and their gender were the social factors shown to favor this phenomenon.
