Aproximación histórica al concepto «Escuela de Salamanca»

    El presente artículo nos acerca al concepto «Escuela de Salamanca», intentando clarificar la validez de dicho término, al mismo tiempo que nos presenta la evolución y los diversos contextos que, desde el siglo xvi hasta el xx, ha sufrido dicha realidad. Sería ingenuo pensar que dicho término tiene o es promovido por unos intereses concretos, en razón de unas necesidades sociales e históricas. De esta manera, se estudian los momentos fundamentales de la evolución de dicho concepto, hasta llegar a la delimitación, más o menos precisa, de los años noventa. A la hora de valorar qué es la «Escuela de Sala-manca» también es necesario tener presente el contexto histórico y la confluencia de interese, tanto de la Iglesia como de la Monarquía hispánica, que tendrá como resultado concreto un pensamiento católico hispano.

    This article raises the concept of the «School of Salamanca», attempting to clarify the validity of such a term, while at the same time presenting us with the evolution and the different contexts which this reality has weathered from the 16th to 20th Century. It would be ingenuous to think that such a term has not undergone historical changes or to forget that the very fact of resurrecting a term represents concrete interest, due to some historical or social necessities. In this way, the fundamental moments of the evolution of the concept are studied, in order to arrive at the more or less precise definition of the nineties. When we ask what is the «School of Salamanca», we must also bear in mind the historical context and the interplay of interests of both the Church and the Spanish Monarchy which have as their concrete results an Hispanic catholic mode of thought.
