El zaldiko del Privilegio de la Unión: Puntualizaciones y correcciones

    El rey Carlos III promulgaba el Privilegio de la Unión de Pamplona el 8 de septiembre de 1423. En una copia de dicho privilegio puede verse la imagen de un caballico o zaldiko tocando la cornamusa. Así, la relevancia que en los últimos años han tomado los actos de conmemoración de la efemérides ha dado pie a la recuperación del instrumento, e incluso a la encarnación del personaje representado en la imagen. Con todo, algunas informaciones publicadas sobre el personaje y el documento en el que aparece son erróneas. Este trabajo pretende aclarar dichas imprecisiones y defiende que la imagen del zaldiko ni es medieval ni, posiblemente, tenga relación alguna con el Privilegio y su celebración.

    King Charles III enacted the Privilege of the Union of Pamplona on May the 8th, 1423. An image of a centaur playing a pipe can be seen in a copy of this privilege. Thus, the relevance acquired by the commemoration of the ephemerides during the last years has leaded to the recovery of the instrument and even to the incarnation of the character represented in the image. However, some information published about this character and the document in which it is represented is erroneous. This work aims at clarifying these inaccuracies and defends that the image of the centaur is not medieval and that it has probably nothing to do with the Privilege and its celebration.

    1423ko irailaren 8an Karlos IIIa erregeak Iruñeko Batasunaren Pribilegioa aldarrikatu zuen. Pribilegio horren kopia batean zaldiko baten irudia ikus daiteke, kornamusa jotzen. Hori horrela, azken urteetan gertakari horren oroipen ekitaldiek hartu duten garrantziak musika tresna berreskuratzeko bidea eman du, baita irudian ageri den pertsonaia bera hezurmamitzekoa ere. Halere, pertsonaiaren eta berau biltzen bide duen dokumentuaren inguruan argitaratutako zenbait informazio okerrak dira. Lan honek huts horiek argitu nahi ditu eta defendatu zaldikoaren irudia ez dela Erdi Arokoa eta, segur aski, Pribilegioarekin eta horren gorazarrearekin harremanik ere ez duela.
