Este artículo estudia los diferentes regímenes de enseñanza de la religión que existen en Europa, y la relación que guarda el modelo español con ellos. Se estudiará en primer lugar cuáles son las bases jurídicas que sustentan este tipo de enseñanzas, así como las aportaciones que presentan desde un punto de vista ético y social. A continuación, se examinarán los dos principales sistemas de enseñanza en el continente: la aproximación histórica o cultural y, por otra parte, la enseñanza confesional. Se podrá comprobar que la situación española encaja de una forma natural dentro de este último modelo. Se comprobará, finalmente, que tan solo hay tres países que no incorporan ninguna

This article studies the different regimes of teaching of religion that exist in Europe, and the relationship that the Spanish model has with them. First, the legal bases that support this type of teaching are studied, as well as the contributions they present from an ethical and social point of view. Second, they are examined both main education systems in the continent: the historical or cultural approach and, on the other hand, the confessional teaching. It will be possible to verify that the Spanish situation fits in a natural way within this last model. Finally, it will be verified that there are only three countries that do not incorporate any religious education. These are, therefore, the exceptions.
