  • Resumen
    • The main lithostratigraphic and paleogeographic features of the plioquaternary deposits at the NW boundary of the Guadalquivir marshlands (Bajo Guadalquivir basin) are described from the study of 210 hydrogeologic boreholes. Two sets of deposits can be distinguished: the bottom one is a PlioPleistocene deposit of deltaic origin made up of six finning upward sequences which prograded to the SW. The upper one is an Holocene deposit of alluvial origin, which fill a sinuous NE to SW paleovalley eroded on the deltaic deposits. This alluvial deposit is made up of two alluvial sequences and is overlayed by the Guadalquivir marshland sediments. The erosion observed between the deltaic and alluvial deposits probably represents the sea level fall during the maximum last glaciation.
